STRAWBERRY POINT - Strawberry Point recently welcomed Mission Street Gallery to its business district.

Mission Street Gallery is owned and created by Kerry Tucker. The Goal of Mission Street Gallery is to bring original art into the local community.

Artists from local areas will be displaying and selling their art work. Artists are from as close as Strawberry Point, Greeley, Guttenberg and Manchester will be included. Different art displayed will include basket weaving, candle making, and quilt making and floral arrangements. All work will include a short biography highlighting different artwork done by the artist.

Kerry has at least six artists with their art work already on display at Mission Street Gallery. Gloria Kiburz from Strawberry Point has her oil paintings in the new store. Marcia Witson and Doug Walthart, also from Strawberry Point have many different woodcraft items and many scented candles for sale, which they make themselves.

Diane Schilling from Guttenberg has handmade quilts for sale. Shanna Haman is a graphic designer and has her art work on display.

Finally, Karen Schmitz from Greely, who owns The Buttercup in Edgewood, will be bringing her expertise in floral arrangements and fresh cut flowers to Mission Street Gallery.

Mission Street Gallery has many future plans in the works. Not only is Kerry planning on adding more artwork to the many pieces already on display, but he will also be renovating a room where artists can hold classes on how to make and create your own art.

These classes will include basket weaving, candle making, quilt making, floral arranging and leather crafts. The leather crafts are bought to you from Kim Smith, owner of Smith's Triple H, located in the same building, who will also help the artists out at Mission Street Gallery. Mission Street Gallery opened June 14, just in time for Strawberry Days.

Normal business hours will be from Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.. Many artists will do their artwork at the store in between waiting on customers.
