Planes, Trains, Automobiles gather at Oelwein

The second annual Planes, Trains and Automobiles event celebrating Oelwein’s ties with the transporation industry drew plenty of supporters Saturday, despite the forecast of thundershowers. The rain held off for the daytime events. At the Oelwein airport, 300 visitors enjoyed breakfast prepared by Gene’s Crew from the American Legion and served by airplane enthtusiasts. The crowd waited for the low ceiling to lift and stunt pilots Darrel Massman of Madison, Wis., and Doug Rosendaul of Mason City took to the sky.
