Late picks lift Raiders past Kee
DUNKERTON — Trent Cooper intercepted a pair of passes in the fourth quarter as Dunkerton held off Kee High 16-14 in its Eight Player, District 4 opener.
The Raiders (2-1 overall) took a 16-8 lead at halftime as Trevor Rigdon scored on a 10-yard run and Colt Robinson found the end zone on a 5-yard run.
Kee came back in the third quarter on a fumble return, but could not convert the potential game-tying 2-point play.
Dunkerton leaned heavily on its defense in the second half, as its offense was able to manage just one first down in the final 24 minutes.
“Kee is a good ball club and they're going to win games,” Raider coach Jeremy Hesse said. “We were lucky enough to get a few turnovers.”
Dunkerton forced five Kee High turnovers on the wet night, including three interceptions. Cooper’s interceptions came in Kee’s final two drives of the evening.
Robinson led the Dunkerton offense with 120 passing yards on 10-of-23 completions and 78 rushing yards. He also ran for a conversion and threw a conversion pass.
Dunkerton hits the road for its next two games, including Friday at Preston.
