Readlyn couple ties the knot on New Year's Eve

With these vows, Kelli and Matt Brunscheon started their new life and their new year.
The Readlyn couple tied the knot at the Center Inn on Dec. 31, sharing a New Year's kiss as 2009 dawned.
The bash fit the couple’s fun-loving spirit, Kelli says, from the party hats and noisemakers decorating the tables to the brightly-colored balloons that showered their guests at midnight.
“It was a fun time to have a wedding,” says Kelli, the bubbly 23-year-old cosmetologist who put the whole celebration together in a little under a year.
“We like to go out and have fun, us and our group of friends,” she adds.
New husband Matt, an easygoing 28-year-old salesman for XL Trailers in Manchester, acquiesced to the overlapping celebrations, since he knew turning over the calendar page aptly reflected the new leaf he was about to turn in his life as he transitioned from a bachelor to a married man.
"It was a good way to get everybody together," he says. "Everybody wants to party that night anyway."
During a romantic Cancun vacation in January 2008, when Matt proposed, the two decided to exchange vows on May 9, 2009, Kelli says.
But by late September, the two were sick of endless wedding details. Kelli shaved five months off her planning schedule, and the race was on.
In just three months, the two pulled together a New Year’s Eve bash that embodied their love of life. Kelli quickly booked the Center Inn and found a sparkling white gown at David’s Bridal, a nationwide wedding retailer. She and Matt enlisted a squad of friends to help decorate, feed and entertain their guests.
“It actually fell into place really easy,” Kelli says. “My friend from high school, her husband DJ’ed for us. The only thing I was really worried about was the DJ and having some place to have it.”
Friend Jesi Masker doubled as a photographer for the big day, and Kelli’s sister, Jill Rosauer, crafted an elaborate cake covered in frosting swirls.
The bride designed her own flower arrangements, programs and invitations, and her cousin, Josh Potter, stepped up to perform his first marriage for the Brunscheons. This do-it-yourself approach was time-consuming, but paid off, Kelli says.
“It might have gotten stressful toward the end, but I didn’t have to rely on anybody else,” she adds. “You don’t have to worry about any of that.”
With the big day now just a special memory, Matt and Kelli are ready for their next adventure together “ finding a bigger house where their daughter, 6-month-old Tessa, can grow and play. The two are excited to tackle the challenges of married life, Kelli adds.
“It’s different to see him with a ring on his finger,” she says. “That was different the next morning, waking up and being married. It’s a good different.”
